Meet Bernard, an outreach coordinator, who provides information about HIV to youth around the Tampa Bay area. His open mind leads him to work in unconventional places.

Storyteller Bio

Bernard Washington, Jr. has been working in HIV prevention and care for more than seven years. As the Outreach & Linkage Program Coordinator for Youth Education Services (YES Program) with USF Health Pediatrics Infectious Diseases, Bernard employs non-traditional approaches to educate youth about sexual health, provide health screening services in both clinical and community settings, and support young people living with HIV/AIDS in the Tampa Bay area. Bernard also serves as a council member of the West Central Florida Ryan White Care Council; is currently co-chair of the Ryan White Care Council Women, Infants, Children, Youth, and Families Committee; chair of the Pinellas Planning Partnership; and participates on other planning committees. Bernard takes pride and joy in being a voice for the youth he serves.
